Newly built apartments next to Castellón Airport
Castellon Airport It plans to operate 1,500 regular flights with an offer of 250,000 seats during the 2023 summer season, which runs from the end of March to the end of October.
The facility will offer the largest number of regular routes in its history, a total of 11, which will allow up to 30 weekly frequencies.
Rebeca Torró, the Minister of Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, has highlighted the important boost that this will give to commercial traffic during the seven months of the summer season. The airlines will operate the largest number of scheduled flights in the airport's history, offering a record number of seats.
More flights in 2023
The 250,000 seats available to fly from or to Castellón represent an increase of 78 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In addition, the 1,500 scheduled regular operations double last year's record and almost double the maximum number of weekly frequencies, going from 17 to 30.
This increase in the number of flights will multiply the air connectivity of Castellón and give a boost to the tourism sector in the province, according to Rebeca Torró. The different routes will allow the arrival of thousands of travelers through the airport.
In this year's summer season, three new regular lines will be activated. The first connection with Düsseldorf-Weeze, operated by Ryanair, will open next Sunday March 26 with two weekly frequencies. The new Porto route, also run by Ryanair, will start operating on March 28 with two weekly flights. And from June 3, the airline Wizz Air will operate the Rome line, also with two weekly frequencies.
Regarding the summer routes of previous years, the one to Budapest (Wizz Air) will operate again on March 29, the one to Katowice (Wizz Air) on April 27 and the one to Seville (Air Nostrum) on June 1.
This Airport has been in regular operation since 2015 and reached this past year (2022), the figure of 150,000 passengers.
In recent years, airport management has consistently invested in its development in logistics, business, training and cultural activities. This last activity is present through the ''zone 30'' room, annex of the Vicente Aguilera Cerni Museum of Contemporary Art (MACVAC), in Vilafamés.
This cultural project makes use of both the specific room and other random spaces in the passenger terminal in order to transfer art to moments that are unusual for it, such as waiting for a plane.
